Homebody.jerome Interview

Welcome back to another installment of our creator series! As always, the heart of this project is to shine a light on inspiring homes and the stories behind them. Today, we’re excited to feature a cozy apartment that perfectly blends personality, compromise, and creativity.

This time, the inspiration comes from someone who reminds us that design isn’t about rigid rules or trends, but about building a home that truly reflects who you are. Let’s dive into the creative mind behind Homebody.jerome!

Meet Jérôme

Meet Jérôme! Living in the small but beautiful country of Switzerland, Jérôme has called it home his entire life. Three years ago, he and his girlfriend moved into their first apartment together—a space that has since become both a canvas for creativity and a reflection of who they are.

Describing himself as a very balanced person, Jérôme shares that he doesn’t need much to be happy. “Besides interior design, I’m interested in all kinds of art, graphic design, and of course music.” His passion for creativity runs deep, shaped by his early years and his professional path. “As a trained media designer, I was involved with art, design and related topics from an early age. Over the years, this has only intensified and turned towards interior design.”

Outside of design, Jérôme values balance in his lifestyle. “In my free time, I go to the gym 4-5 times a week, which gives me a sporty balance to my otherwise very relaxed life.” His second biggest passion? Social media. “My Instagram page has become a real hobby of mine. I’ve been creating, posting, and connecting for about a year now.”

He laughs when calling himself a homebody, but it perfectly captures his joy in spending time within the four walls he and his girlfriend have built together, stating “my hobby is also simply enjoying my time at home.” Outside of enjoying his home and working on his physique, he works full-time as a media designer for a large Swiss company. His work spans many creative avenues, stating, “I mainly make print products, but I also edit videos and create ads for social media.”

It’s clear that whether at home, at the gym, or in the office, Jérôme’s life is grounded in creativity, balance, and intention.

Home Decor Journey

Every journey has a starting point, and for Jérôme, it began in an unexpected way. “To be honest, when I moved into our new apartment, I wasn’t interested in interior design at all. I let my girlfriend decide everything and was very happy with it.”

But as fate would have it, he was faced with furnishing one space entirely on his own—his office. “I ‘had’ to furnish my office myself and that’s where it all started. It just looked terrible for a year. An office desk, an office chair, 2 chests of drawers, 3 plants and my huge Funko Pop collection. There wasn’t much else in the room.”

The contrast between that office and the rest of the apartment was striking. “Over time, I realized that I didn’t like being in that office. The rest of the apartment was super cozy and I felt super comfortable, which was due to my girlfriend’s decor/interior interest.”

That realization sparked a shift. “That’s when I started to look into the subject. I went on Pinterest, made mood boards, followed interior pages on Instagram and watched YouTube videos by Eric Wang. And so one thing led to another and I was suddenly caught up in the interior bubble.”

Jérôme still remembers the very first piece that marked the beginning of his new passion. “I started by buying a flip clock. That was my first real decor piece that I bought for my office. And then everything built on that and I slowly turned my office into my little feel-good safe space.”

Now, both he and his girlfriend work together to bring their vision to life. “I’ve been working on our home with my girlfriend for over a year, constantly upgrading, rearranging, and beautifying our apartment. I love having the place where I live as my little side project and hobby.”

Jérôme the Content Creator

For Jérôme, the beginnings of content creation trace back to the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. “When the coronavirus hit Switzerland and we all had to stay at home, I, like many others, was bored and didn’t know what to do. The gyms were closed and I wasn’t allowed to see my friends.”

Looking for something new, he turned to creativity. “On a whim, I ordered a Nikon D3500 and a DJI drone and was determined to learn something new. And I loved it. I was testing, filming, photographing and editing every day.” Soon, he found himself immersed in the photo and video creator bubble, launching an Instagram page dedicated to his photography. While his passion waned over time—largely due to the challenges of gaining traction online—this period laid the groundwork for a new direction that would emerge years later.

“Fast-forward a few years. In June 2024, I had the idea that I could film my interior/office journey and post it on Instagram. Maybe a few people would like it and it would certainly be a great documentation of this journey. And so homebody.jerome was born and on June 28, 2025, I posted my first reel.”

Inspired by creators such as Eric Luis, xchouxxchoux, and hausbyg, Jérôme not only admired their beautifully curated spaces but also the way they approached content. “Not only because of their incredibly beautiful spaces, but above all because of the kind of content they produce.”

Like many creators, Jérôme also dreams about brand partnerships. “Of course, it’s a big dream of mine to work with big brands like Design Within Reach, Ikea or USM. But at the moment, with my small Instagram page, I am grateful for every brand that is interested in me. It’s so exciting to do collabs like this and to keep coming up with new ideas for reels, photos and stories. It’s all new to me.”

When it comes to generating content, constantly figuring out new ways to entertain your audience while doing enough to attract new viewers can be a major commitment. For Jérôme, spontaneity plays a big role in this process as he shares, “Sometimes ideas just come to me and I write them down for later. But of course it can also be that I pick up on a trend or find other inspirations.” Through the process, he has rediscovered a joy that once slipped away. “Through this interior design journey of mine, I have rediscovered the joy of photography and filming and I am extremely grateful for it. It’s such a wonderful hobby where you can express yourself creatively in a really great way.”

Jérôme makes the most of the tools he has. Although he has aspirations of upgrading his setup, he sets the standard for being able to create amazing visuals with what you have at home. “I would love to make my content with a Fujifilm camera. Unfortunately, it’s not in the budget at the moment. When I started with the content, I wanted a camera that I could use in atypical positions and perspectives. The Osmo Pocket 3 immediately came to mind. I make all my videos with this little camera and then edit everything in Premiere Pro.” For still photography, he still relies on his very first camera. “I actually still use my old Nikon D3500 for my photos. I’ve gotten so used to this old piece that I still love it.”

So much of content creation is rooted in what the future looks like and defining the end goal. We asked Jérôme what Homebody.jerome looks like in a perfect world. He keeps his outlook grounded as he states, “To be honest, I’m someone who lives completely in the moment. I do like to plan my day ahead, but the best version of myself is who I am right now. Each day brings new opportunities and challenges, and I’m always ready and curious to see what comes my way. So if you ask me what I’d look like in a perfect world: exactly the way I do right now.”

Let’s Discuss the Home

When asked about his home, Jérôme unselfishly pointed out that the aesthetics of the home was and is a shared effort, stating, “my girlfriend and I are responsible for this cozy apartment.” Their approach to design leans toward simplicity and balance. “As you can see, we like clean colors and not overly colorful pieces. I know that beige is somewhat frowned upon in the interior design scene, but I love combining beige with earthy tones and green. It gives the space a calm and tidy look.”

One element that runs throughout is greenery. “We love incorporating plants throughout our home — we have at least one plant in every room.” To complement that natural touch, they rely on subtle details. “Of course, small lamps and decorative pieces add a personal touch. We don’t follow a specific interior style; we just pick pieces that feel right to us.”

This project truly embodies the spirit of teamwork and companionship. Styling an area as a solo project is overwhelming enough, but balancing that with another opinion in many households complicates the process. They are the exception to this struggle as even one of their favorite areas is one that reflects a shared hobby. “One of our absolute favorite corners is our little LEGO area. We put it together using the Eket furniture from IKEA and display our small LEGO collection there — it’s a hobby my girlfriend and I both enjoy.”

Moving into the space that started it all, Jérôme continues the vibes from the LEGO area into his workspace. “In my office, I lean more into a playful vibe. I like small collectibles, chrome accents, and darker tones. I’m also a huge fan of small lamps that create a cozy atmosphere. A clear statement piece is my chess-patterned rug and the Varmblixt lamp from IKEA, which shows up in almost every post of mine.”

The apartment itself has also evolved over time. “Our home has changed in the sense that I’ve been contributing to it for about a year now :) Up until a year ago, the apartment mostly reflected my girlfriend’s style. That’s been shifting over the past year — and it continues to evolve day by day.”

It’s this evolution, and the collaboration it requires, that Jérôme values most. “We’re finding a middle ground between her ideas and mine, and together we’re creating our dream home. I truly love this journey, including the compromises we make along the way.”

As for what’s next, he prefers to keep it under wraps. “Where our apartment is headed or what we’re planning — that will remain a secret for now. But I can say this: we definitely have a few ideas :)”

Advice to you!

In true Wallsofmen fashion, we end this amazing entry with advice for you. For Jérôme, interior design goes far beyond style—it’s about connection, comfort, and self-expression. “I truly believe that everyone should care about interior design to some extent. We all have an apartment, a room, a home — a place where we should feel comfortable.”

Design, he explains, is also a way of better understanding yourself. “Engaging with interior design also means engaging with yourself: What do I like? What don’t I like? Which colors or materials trigger certain feelings in me? That’s how you can shape your dream space, little by little, every single day.”

And while it may seem like a big task, his advice is refreshingly simple. “The two most important tips are: ‘Take your time’ and ‘It doesn’t have to be designer.’ With just these two tips, you can save a lot of time and money :)”. Of course, the fun of it shouldn’t be overlooked. “Not to mention — it’s a lot of fun and incredibly exciting.” For Jérôme, the process itself is just as rewarding as the results.

On the content side, he emphasizes the importance of community. “From a content creator’s perspective, I can honestly say that being part of the interior design bubble is a lot of fun. Both the creators and the community are incredibly warm and welcoming. Everyone supports one another, and you make some truly wonderful connections along the way.”

We’d like to thank Jérôme for sharing his story, his home, and his passion for design with us. From his beginnings in media design to rediscovering creativity through interiors, his journey is a reminder that our homes can grow alongside us—and that with time, patience, and a little curiosity, anyone can build a space that feels like their own.

Stay tuned for our next installment in the creator series, where we’ll continue to explore the homes and stories that inspire us all.
