Welcome to our third edition of the creator series! In case you’re new, this is a series designed to show off some of the best interior design creators. Take a deeper dive into colorful and comforting homes and the creative minds behind it. In this installment, get to know Filip. Come along with us as I introduce him and the beautiful place he calls home!
Who is Filip?
Filip grew up in a small town in the countryside of Sweden. From a young age he cemented himself as a renaissance man. He loved creativity which led to his passions of painting and writing. Along with this, fell in love with sports; so much so he was able to take this passion and turn it into a career. Filip became a professional track & field athlete in Sweden and since his retirement from running, he now works for the media and communications for the Swedish Athletics Federation.
Outside of the busy work hours and the extensive hours spent traveling for his job, Filip loves spending time building out hobbies that can take his mind away from work. He loves taking advantage of mother nature's beauty by getting outside as much as possible. Along with this, he enjoys reading, working out, and of course participating in a multitude of sports.
Home Decor Journey
Every beautiful home has an origin story. The motivations behind creating a space with walls to a space that brings peace looks different for every creator. The process for filip began with the purchase of his home a year ago. He told us “I didn’t own my home until just over a year ago, so that was the first time I was able to create a space exactly the way I wanted it. That marked the beginning of my journey, even though I’ve had an interest in design, particularly interior design, my entire life.” Filip also notes the impact of his upbringing and how that plays a role into his design style today. He states “My parents traveled a lot, and we had some very unique pieces in our home growing up. Some of those, like the colorful vase and the yellow chairs, I’ve brought with me to my current place.”
Filip’s parents had instilled a solid foundation that led to an idea of what he wanted his own home to look like, but of course a home is an ever-changing process. New themes, ideas, and products are created everyday leading to creative updates, goals, and visions to a space. He writes “I feel like my home is constantly evolving; it’s a dynamic space. I’m not afraid to change things up and try new ideas, which keeps me motivated to continue. Ultimately, my goal is to have a space where I can feel relaxed, whether I’m spending time alone or with friends.”
The 26meter2 Content Creator
Finding the courage to begin sharing your home to the world can be daunting. Never knowing how the internet will respond to your style and preferences. This is what Filip had to say in regards to his journey in content creation and how he deals with this feeling. “I started because my sister suggested I create an Instagram to showcase my apartment. I gave it a try, and I was amazed by all the support and love I received. There’s a true community of interior design enthusiasts who lift each other up.”
Creating timely and consistent content is truly a job of its own. With every exciting career, the thought of what’s next is always top of mind. This is what the future looks like for Filip. He states “I have some exciting collaborations coming up this spring! I’ve been fortunate to work on some amazing projects that I never could have imagined when I first started.” He adds “I’d love to be more active on TikTok, but right now, I’m struggling to find the time. Time is my biggest challenge at the moment, as balancing a full-time job makes it difficult to post consistently.”
Finally, I asked Filip what 26meter2 looked like in a perfect world. Most answers people would assume are bold and filled with ambition; others are simply centered around the love of sharing their home with the world. Filip's answer seemed to be centered around just that, the joy of sharing his home and the freedom to do so as he writes “My goal for the next few months is to share high-quality content on a regular basis. "26meter2" is my creative outlet, so in a perfect world, I’d be able to spend more time creating content.”
The Home
Now onto the home! Diving into the amazing space can’t solely be done visually. Filip was able to paint us an amazing picture stating “I wanted to incorporate earthy tones alongside pops of color, while avoiding black and white. The brick wall adds a unique touch to the space and served as a major inspiration for the rest of the apartment. The main living area has a calm vibe with brown, yellow, and orange tones, while I took a bolder approach in the hallway and bathroom. The hallway is entirely pink, and the bathroom ceiling is painted green with orange and red accents. I love the contrasts, even though they complement each other beautifully.”
Turning a house into a home is a marathon of a project that has its ups and downs. Churning 4 walls into a place that reflects your own personality is something not everyone can do. Filip is clearly not one of those people. Spending countless hours working from place to place called for curating a home that not only symbolizes himself but is a peaceful place that allows Filip to hit the reset button. Here is what Filip had to say about his plans and journey creating such a space “I planned a lot ahead before moving into my apartment. My inspiration has always been mid-century modern and colorful homes. I grew up in a mid-century modern-inspired house, so I’ve always loved those design elements—brown tones, wood, and the Palm Springs vibe, combined with Nordic design. In the end, I think it turned out a bit less mid-century modern than I originally envisioned, but I’m really happy with the results so far.”
Almost always, the creativity and personality bleeds into the artworks, furniture, lighting and more. I asked Filip the significance of the pieces he handpicked to design his home. He states “My yellow Jonas Bohlin chairs, thermos, and colorful vase are all items I inherited from my mom, and they set the tone for the rest of my home.” Including “The pieces I’ve inherited hold a special place in my home, and I’m sure they’ll stay with me for the rest of my life.”
Advice to you!
Our final question that is starting to become tradition in the creator series. It’s always refreshing to hear new and different perspectives and tips from those who are accomplishing what others are dreaming of. This is the advice and knowledge Filip has left for you all, stating “First of all, I would tell them to just start. I know that many people, myself included, often want everything to be perfect before they even begin. Start an Instagram or TikTok and post things you genuinely enjoy. Don’t try to copy others—your followers will be able to tell if what you’re posting is authentically you, and they’ll engage with that. Begin with photos, and when you feel comfortable, you can upload your first reel or TikTok.”
Thank you to Filip for being an amazing steward during this process! Stay tuned for the next installment of the creator series as we continue to bring you amazing homes and amazing people!
